With the introduction of the XML data type in SQL Server 2005 a new level of flexibility has been introduced to relational database environments to support loosely structured data. To get that data back requires an understanding of XQuery, the powerful query language written for XML specifically. This session will cover the basics of XQuery and help you get up to speed on this new environment.

The SQL Server Special Interest Group (SQL SIG) was founded in a partnership between Bennett Adelson and Microsoft. The SQL SIG has become the forum for SQL Server collaboration and instruction from some of the brightest minds in the region. The organization was founded to provide enterprise SQL developers and DBA's the opportunity to collaborate and listen to leading experts discuss various topics within SQL Server.
